MUTCD Signs
Southern Manufacturing, an early innovator in the use of LEDs in illuminated street name signs, is proud to announce the introduction of LED Illuminated MUTCD Signs.
In many areas of the country backlit MUTCD regulatory signs to indicate turn lanes and turn restrictions.
Up until the introduction of Southern's innovative sign, the standard has been fluorescent signs. By nature, these signs require regular maintenance to replace bulbs and or ballasts, causing lane closures and deployment of crews. Southern's Illunimated MUTCD Signs use the same proved LED strips that are used in our internally illuminated street name signs and deliver a minimum brightness of 750 lux. These strips are rated to maintain 70% of the initial brightness after 60,000 hours which equates to 6.85 years when illuminated 24 hours per day and 13.7 years if operated 12 hours by utilizing a simple photo cell. The technology and components have been proven in thousands of signs nationwide and carry a six year limited warranty. Wattage ranges from 24 watts for the smaller sizes up to 66 watts for the largest size.
Illuminated MUTCD Signs are available for most of the standard regulatory symbols including R3-1 through R3-9B and in sizes with displays of 24" x 24" up through 48" x 48" and rectangular sizes up to 48" x 30". The housings are light-weight 5052 aluminum and available in all standard colors including black, natural aluminum and highway yellow. For added visibility, optional diamond grade or DG3 retroreflective films are available. As with all of Southern's signs, the illuminated MUTCD sign is designed to withstand hurricane conditions with winds up to 110 MPH. Signs can be mounted from the top or rear on mast arms or free swinging from span wire.
Illuminated MUTCD Signs are an excellent compliment to both LED blank out signs and illuminated street name signs.
Southern offers a complete range of blank out signs in symbolic messages and text messages or both in combination.
There are also a select number of dual message blank out signs such as "no left turn/yield to pedestrians".
